pick up pet waste

How can I take care with my dog?

Take the pledge right now to protect our waterways and drinking sources. Always scoop the poop on trails, beaches and neighborhoods, and encourage other dog owners to clean up after their pets.

Why should I take care?

Dog waste is an environmental pollutant. We need to pick up after our furry friends as responsible pet owners – even in the woods. Many towns get their drinking water straight from lakes, so remember, if “They drop it, you drink it.” Plus, no one wants to step in your dog’s doody.

In 1991, dog waste was labeled a non-point source pollutant by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), placing it in the same category as herbicides and insecticides; oil, grease and toxic chemicals; and acid drainage from abandoned mines.
